Description

Welcome back to another episode of Logo Bunch, folks! Today, we have 2 more TV channels requested by ONCE AGAIN, :iconthewalkingpencil10:. Actually, his request will come in 2 more parts. So, on this first part, we're starting off with a TV channel that some of you might remember. It is a channel that defines the word "Classic", speaking of which, it even has that word in its name. That name is Turner Classic Movies (TCM). Now to understand how it was created, let's start at the beginning, 1982, to be precise, when media mogul Ted Turner acquired all of MGM's works up until 1986. Around that time, he needed a place for these movies and TV shows. Sure, TNT shows these classic movies and Cartoon Network's Boomerang holds all of the Hanna-Barbera/MGM cartoon library, but it wasn't until the early 1990s where Ted decided to create a new channel dedicated to vintage movies. And thus, on April 14, 1994 TCM was launched, showing all of the vintage movies from the mid 1910s to the mid 1980s, mainly made from MGM, as well as its parent company Warner Bros., and other movie studios including Fox and Paramount. Currently, TCM has remained unchanged, but they also add in some more independent films that we may have remembered. The logo of TCM has not changed, but the one from its launch until 2004 was actually different. Sure, it has the rectangle with the letters TCM in a Classic Military font, but it appears to be a banner surrounding the rectangle and the words that read "Turner Classic Movies" are placed in the same fashion as the MGM logo. Also, not to mention, there's a random character from a certain movie appearing on top of the banner. Yep, kinda like Noggin. I always remember seeing this logo every time when I flip through channels on digital cable. Even when I'm looking at today's logo, it still has a taste to this logo. Now that's what I call "Classic"! Anyways, we have another classic logo of a another classic TV channel, although, I would consider more recent. Ladies, gentlemen, wolves, and others, I present to you: The Mother of All Premium Movie Cable Networks in the World: Home Box Office, inc., otherwise known as HBO (HBO). Created by Time Life, TimeWarner's literature/music company, on November of 1972, it was shown to broadcast theatrically-released movies on television, mainly from Warner Bros (their parent company), Fox, Universal, and Paramount, 4 of the Big 6. However, it wasn't just showing movies. They also show a couple of sports programming, talk shows, news, and TV shows such as Game of Thrones and Sex in the City. HBO became more popular that it even spawn out a couple of other channels which I will get to sooner: 2, Comedy, Family, Latino, Signature, and Zone. Looking at the logo for HBO, like TCM, it has remained unchanged. However, there is a sight difference: from 1975-1980, the O is place slighty in front of the B. But it does count for this logo considering that they didn't completely changed the logo. Also, when I look at the O, it almost looks like a film reel, I mean, 2 different circles pasted in place, yeah, it does look familiar. But hey, that's just me. No matter how it changed or how popular it was, HBO will still be remembered as the Number 1 Premium Movie Channel of all time. Anyways, that's pretty much it with this episode and stay tuned for part 2!
